Deposit Holds

We want to make your deposits available as quickly and safely as possible. To protect your account, most check deposits will have a hold placed, regardless of how they are deposited. This gives us time to verify the check (or checks) and make sure the funds are secure before they’re used.

As required by regulation, the first $275 of your deposit will generally be available the next business day. The remaining amount becomes available once the hold period ends.

If a hold is placed, you’ll be notified at the time of deposit. The notice will tell you how much is being held and when those funds will become available.

Below is what you can expect based on how you deposit your check.

ATM Deposits

ATM deposits can be subject to two-business-day holds.

Photo Check (Mobile) Deposits

Mobile deposits can be subject to two-business-day holds.

Mailed Deposits

Checks deposited through the U.S. Postal Service may be subject to a hold unless the check qualifies for immediate availability.

Branch Deposits

Checks deposited in a branch may be subject to a hold unless the check qualifies for immediate availability.

When Holds May Be Longer

Certain deposits require additional review for your protection. These safeguards help protect your account and GreenState from potential losses. Extended holds may occur in situations such as:

  • New accounts
  • Large deposits
  • Checks that appear altered or suspicious
  • Concerns raised by the financial institution the check is drawn on
